This Thursday I attended my first King Cake Social with St. Landry Parish Tourism, an annual networking event held to celebrate the season with fellow community and business leaders.
King cakes were brought in for tasting and voted on in a blind taste test by all in attendance. Champagne's Marche in Leonville graciously donated not one, but TWO specialty king cakes for the potluck - an ameretto and a fudge/bavarian cream which we entered for MacaroniKID Acadia-St. Landry.

It was a delicious way to connect with community leaders and entrepreneurs of St. Landry Parish! Many of the entries brought in were homemade and the tasters' choice was actually a tie! The highest votes were an even split between a blueberry and cream cheese with lemon glaze prepared by Mary-Helen Peyton (provided by Alex and Scott Peyton with Peyton Actus Capital Group) and a traditional cinnamon/cream cheese swirl king cake, which took a team to prepare from the Sweet Dough Pie team of Grand Coteau!
The Takeaway
While meeting with other leaders in the tourism industry we made some great connections that provide fun and exciting new opportunities for locals families in St. Landry Parish. Here are some upcoming events and programs worth checking out!

The French-Immersion public school located in Sunset is excited to welcome families, community members, partners, and Sunset High alumni to a special Community Open House at the newly renovated Sunset High building, soon to be the upper school campus of École Saint-Landry.
