A Note From Your Publisher

By Courtney J., Macaroni Kid Publisher April 30, 2026

Many of you are familiar with who I am, especially those of you who regularly check your email inbox every week for our newsletter. I think often times people think this is my full-time job, just showing up to events. I thought it might be a good time to reintroduce myself, especially for our new readers!

I am a special education paraprofessional by day, a full-time mother of 3 and somewhere in between those roles I am a MacaroniKID publisher for the Acadia and St. Landry Parish areas. Through motherhood, parenting, and as an educator I have discovered a deep passion for community involvement to help bring awareness of local things to do for families, but I definitely couldn't do this without my village. I am so grateful for special friends like Jamie Cormier who keeps tabs on all the local happenings around St. Landry Parish and beyond.

Know of an event happening in your community that is family-friendly?

(Event must be in Acadia or St. Landry parish and family-friendly! Free events will be included in our e-newsletters. Events that charge an admission or entry fee may be subject to approval)

How often do you hear 'I'm Bored!' or have thought 'there's nothing to do here!' That's where MacaroniKID publishers come in, helping connect families to the resources that are available in their communities they may not be aware of. Bringing unity in the community through family-oriented events like festivals and family fun activities is so much more than just having something to do. On top of strengthening family connection by making positive memories, these activities can help reduce social isolation and build a stronger sense of community.

Having access to community events that are geared towards families and togetherness also supports overall well-being by encouraging kids to stay active, connect with others, and learn in safe, positive environments. It's why we partner with and support local organizations that aim to help make their communities a better place such as Kiwanis and Rotary clubs. We stand by in support of local organizations such as CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline that serve children in the foster care system.

Providing a platform that highlights local, low-cost events (like library story hours or community festivals) allow children from all income levels access to educational and cultural experiences, which is crucial for early development.

Our support for the community goes full circle as we not only help local families find things to do, we also work to support local business. Through sponsorships and adverstising we aim to help support the services of local businesses and connecting them with our local readers by bringing greater awareness of what they have to offer.

So support your local publication. Tell your friends and family about Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry. Connect and share our social media pages on - Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
